Cognitive Neuroscience · Extended Reality · Mental Imagery

Professor at the University of Navarra, currently also serving as Vice-Dean for Research and Postgraduate Studies at the Faculty of Education and Psychology. I research the intersection of cognitive science and Extended Reality, using a multimodal approach — combining Mixed Reality and neurophysiological signals — to study mental imagery vividness, spatial attention, and social working memory. I'm interested in open science that makes my research more transparent, accessible, and rigorous.

Multimodal Analysis of Spatial Attention and Hemineglect

A multimodal system — Virtual Reality, Mixed Reality, AI, and neurophysiological signals (including EEG, among others) — built to detect hemispatial neglect and related attention deficits after stroke or brain injury, and to personalize each patient's treatment from that detection. Funded by the Government of Navarra and FEDER funds (€1,319,898 total).

Measuring the Vividness of Visual Mental Imagery

Mental imagery vividness has always been measured with a single questionnaire score. This study replaces that with a psychophysical measure: participants judge specific visual parameters of their own mental images — brightness, contrast, saturation, clarity — one at a time, instead of collapsing them into one global rating.

Immersion Levels in Spatial Navigation and Cybersickness

A virtual replication of Wamsley et al.'s maze task comparing desktop and VR versions of the same navigation challenge, testing how immersion level affects spatial learning, performance, and cybersickness.
